Milbank LLP announced today that its London office will move to state-of-the-art development 100 Liverpool Street in early 2021.
The announcement comes as Milbank celebrates its 40th anniversary in London and follows a continued period of success and expansion. In 2018 alone, London headcount grew by 30%.
The new office space will initially span over 70,000 square feet, with an option to take further contiguous space in due course to accommodate the future growth of Milbank’s London team. It is significantly larger than the 54,000 square feet currently occupied by the firm at 10 Gresham Street and 125 Wood Street.
Scheduled to open in 2019, 100 Liverpool Street is a 520,000 square foot redevelopment designed by Hopkins Architects, which will include new retail space, landscaped terraces and a rooftop restaurant. The building has been designed and managed to the highest sustainability and connectivity standards. Located at the entrance to the Broadgate campus, 100 Liverpool Street is adjacent to the forthcoming Elizabeth Line station and close to Broadgate Circle. 100 Liverpool Street is part of the £1.5 billion masterplan for Broadgate, developed by joint owners British Land and GIC.
“Our London office has been, and continues to be, critically important to the firm,” said Chairman Scott A. Edelman. “With the substantial growth and success in London, we are delighted to create an innovative and creative work environment that reflects the culture of our firm in London and globally.”
Julian Stait, Co-Managing Partner of Milbank’s London office, said: “We are thrilled to be moving to 100 Liverpool Street. The growth and success of our London practice is testament to our exceptional lawyers and culture of co-operation and collaboration. Cross-team working is part of our DNA and allows us to handle our clients’ most complex transactions and solve their business challenges. We are looking forward to moving into exceptional space at 100 Liverpool Street which will further enhance our ability to exchange ideas and solve problems as a team.”
The London relocation announcement follows a similar move for Milbank in New York. Last month, the firm moved to 55 Hudson Yards in the city’s flagship Hudson Yards development. The space was designed by architecture firm LSM who will also design the new London office to be an open, bright and collaborative space with private offices for lawyers.
