Milbank LLP is pleased to announce that Claudia Carvajal Lopez has joined its New York office as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Finance and Securities Group.
“We are pleased to welcome Claudia to the firm,” said Milbank Chairman Scott A. Edelman. “Her breadth and depth of capital markets experience and ability to guide clients through complex, high-stakes transactions will further strengthen our exceptional team, and as capital markets activity continues to accelerate, her strategic insight and deep transactional expertise will be invaluable in driving the firm’s growth in this critical area.”
Ms. Carvajal Lopez advises companies, investment banks and lenders on a wide range of securities offerings. Her practice encompasses high-yield and investment-grade debt offerings, both registered and unregistered, as well as initial public offerings, follow-on equity offerings, spin-off financings, liability management exercises, structured 144A credit transactions and preferred equity offerings. She also advises clients on corporate governance matters.
“Claudia is an outstanding capital markets lawyer whose versatility across the full spectrum of debt and equity products will be a tremendous asset to our clients,” said Marcelo A. Mottesi, Chair of Milbank’s Corporate Finance and Securities Group. “Her ability to advise on transactions spanning high-yield debt, investment-grade debt, IPOs, and structured credit — across geographies and industries — aligns perfectly with our group’s forward-looking strategy, and we are delighted to welcome her to the team.”
She advises public and private companies across a range of industries — including aerospace, construction technology, cybersecurity and industrials — on capital markets and securities matters. Her representative experience includes advising on Quantinuum’s $1.7 billion IPO, Global Payments’ $6.2 billion notes offering and Grupo Aeromexico’s $275 million IPO, among other significant transactions.
Milbank’s Corporate Finance and Securities Group has advised on transactions with an aggregate value of $100 billion in the first half of 2026 alone, spanning high-yield, hybrid capital, preferred equity, investment-grade, IPOs and liability management transactions across various industries, including media, technology, telecommunications, retail, digital infrastructure, energy and utilities, and transportation. The group’s continued growth is further demonstrated by the addition of Adam Brenneman, who joined Milbank last year and brings significant experience advising issuers, underwriters and capital providers on complex cross-border capital markets, special situations financing and restructuring transactions, with a particular focus on the United States and Latin America.
“I’m thrilled to join Milbank and its premier Corporate Finance and Securities practice,” said Ms. Carvajal Lopez. “The firm’s prowess and market-leading reputation make it the ideal platform to continue advising clients on complex, high-profile transactions, and I look forward to contributing to the team’s continued success.”
Ms. Carvajal Lopez joins from Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where she was a member of the Capital Markets practice. She earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor for the New York University Law Review, and her B.A. in Political Science from UC Berkeley. She is fluent in Spanish.
