Milbank LLP advised Amazon in the negotiation of a Launch Services Agreement with launch services provider ABL Space Systems (“ABL”). As part of the recently announced deal, ABL will provide launch services for the launch of the first two prototype satellites for Project Kuiper, Amazon’s planned low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation.
Through Project Kuiper, Amazon plans to deploy a network of more than 3,000 satellites in LEO to provide satellite-based broadband services globally, with the first two prototype satellites set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The Milbank deal team was led by Transportation and Space partner Patrick S. Campbell and included special counsel Bijan Ganji and associate Pinky Mehta.
