Jacqueline Chan Named to Asia’s Top 15 Female Lawyers List for 2022 by Asian Legal Business

Milbank LLP Singapore-based partner Jacqueline Chan has been named as one of Asia’s Top 15 Female Lawyers for 2022 by Asian Legal Business. The recognition celebrates the top female lawyers in the Asia region who deliver unparalleled results in their respective practice areas and jurisdictions, earning praise from clients, breaking ground in their fields and serving as role models to others.

Ms. Chan consistently advises and leads on many of the most innovative, cutting-edge M&A and corporate finance transactions in the Asia region, Ms. Chan is regularly recognized as an exceptional leader and dealmaker by key industry watchers, including Asian Legal Business, Asia Business Law Journal, Chambers Asia Pacific, Legal 500, IFLR, Best Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal and Global Law Experts. In 2021, she was named as one of “Asia’s Top 15 M&A Lawyers” in 2021 by Asian Legal Business. She also has been named a Finance Monthly “Deal Maker of the Year,” and a significant number of her deals have won “Deal of the Year” awards through the years.

Some of the landmark transactions Ms. Chan has advised on include Atlantic Gulf & Pacific on I Squared Capital’s investment of up to US$300 million in AG&P City Gas; Thai national energy conglomerate PTT Public Company Limited in the formation of a joint venture with Foxconn to establish an electronic vehicle platform; a consortium of 13 banks in the US$2.5 billion debt refinancing of Malaysia’s Sapura TMC Sdn Bhd; and Vietnam consumer conglomerate Masan Group Corporation’s investments in VCM Services and Trading and The CrownX by Alibaba, Barings Private Equity, Temasek, among others. A sought-after industry speaker, she regularly lends her expertise to several professional organizations. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, she actively provided thought leadership to the industry and university communities through virtual meetings (or conferences) and online events.

Beyond her practice, Ms. Chan is an avid advocate for broader issues in the legal space. She sits on the board of directors of International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation of Singapore (IWIRC Singapore), an organization that aims to encourage and support women in the field through networking, training and mentoring opportunities. Ms. Chan’s passion for public service is reflected in her extensive pro bono work. She was recently appointed to Trustlaw’s Global Pro Bono Council, which is the world’s largest pro bono network and facilitates pro bono support and legal research, and the provision of pro bono resources for organizations throughout the world. Her pro bono efforts include helping children in low-income communities through literacy and gender equality in education; advising small, local entrepreneurs on how to scale up their responsible business practices; and creating opportunities that empower people with disabilities through the arts.
