Milbank Litigation partner George Canellos will be speaking on a panel titled “Ethical Obligations of Government Attorneys: What can the Industry Expect when Dealing with the Government?” at The Clearing House Annual Conference on November 8, 2017. The panel will be composed of former government employees who are now in private practice in various capacities. The panelists will provide insight into what financial institutions should expect when dealing with government employees, particularly when it comes to enforcement, and they will discuss the obligations that government employees have when dealing with the financial industry.
Prior to joining Milbank, Mr. Canellos served in top positions at the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He served most recently as co-director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement and prior to that, as the Enforcement Division’s acting director and deputy director, where he set SEC enforcement priorities and policies, and supervised the civil law enforcement efforts, including in investigations, prosecutions, and trials.
