Daniel J. Michalchuk

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Michalchuk represents project sponsors and financial institutions in a variety of domestic and international project financings in the energy and infrastructure space.

Mr. Michalchuk's experience spans many industries and sectors, including:

• Renewable energy, including representation of Equinor in connection with the Empire and Beacon offshore wind projects, representation of Broad Reach Power in the financing of their battery storage portfolio, and representation of the lenders in the Great River Hydro portfolio, the Terra-Gen LC facility and Edwards Sanborn solar and battery project, the True Green and Cypress Creek distributed generation portfolios and the Leeward wind portfolio financing
• Conventional power, including the Trumbull, Magnolia, Midland, Odyssey, Three Rivers, Panda Liberty and Patriot, Essential Power, Canal 3, and Lackawanna power financings and the private placement financing of the TransAlta South Hedland power facility in Australia;
• Midstream oil & gas and petrochemicals, including the Salamanca, Third Coast Midstream, Midcoast and Alder midstream financings, the Matterhorn, Whistler, Delaware Basin Residue, Wink to Webster, and Colonial pipeline financings, the DRU / Port Arthur terminal financing, the Elba LNG holdco facility, Woodfibre LNG project in British Columbia, Lake Charles LNG project in Louisiana and the Manzanillo LNG project in Mexico, the Topolobampo ammonia project in Mexico, and numerous petrochemical facilities in Trinidad; and
• Digital and Traditional Infrastructure, including representation of the lenders in the acquisition financing of the Coresite data center portfolio and the private placement financing of the Savage Rail Yard and upsizing of the Indiana Toll Road financing.

Mr. Michalchuk also has experience in a diverse set of other industries and sectors, including metals and mining and telecom/communications/satellites.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Michalchuk is ranked Band 1 in Chambers USA for Projects (USA). He received a B.A. from Queen's University, Canada, an M.A. in International Relations from Carleton University, Canada, an LL.B. from University of Ottawa, Canada and an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center.  He is top ranked by Chambers USA in Projects-Nationwide.  Mr. Michalchuk is admitted to practice in New York.
