Ms. Kim's practice focuses on a wide range of complex commercial and financial restructuring matters. She has experience representing debtors and debtors-in-possession, creditors’ committees, lenders, funds, equity holders, and other stakeholders in financial restructuring, bankruptcy, and other distressed situations, as well as representing clients in international commercial arbitrations.

- Representing the liquidating trust of a California-based commercial bank specializing in providing financial services to the cryptocurrency industry.
- Representing a provider of portable restrooms and temporary site sanitation services in its chapter 11 bankruptcy in the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of Texas.
- Representing a diabetes diagnostic systems manufacturer in their chapter 11 bankruptcy in the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of Texas.
- Representing a group of multi-employer pension funds to recover claims for withdrawal liability under ERISA against a major U.S. trucking company in its chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the bankruptcy court for the District of Delaware.
- Representing a low-cost Brazilian airline carrier in its chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of New York, including related appeals.
- Representing a leading global software solutions provider supporting the delivery of video and other internet content in its chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the bankruptcy court for the District of Delaware.
- Representing a group of secured lenders of a major U.S. hospital network in its chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of Texas.
- Representing the debtor-in-possession of a major provider of supply chain solutions in the aircraft industry in their chapter 11 bankruptcy in the bankruptcy court of the Southern District of Texas.
- Representing an equity holder of a cryptocurrency lending company in its chapter 11 bankruptcy in the bankruptcy court of the Southern District of New York.
- Representing the Official Unsecured Creditors’ Committee of a California-based pharmaceutical company in its chapter 11 bankruptcy in the bankruptcy court of the Southern District of Texas.
- Representing the Official Unsecured Creditors’ Committee of a major Texas energy producer and its affiliates, in its chapter 11 bankruptcy in the bankruptcy court of the Southern District of Texas.
- Representing the debtor-in-possession and reorganized debtor of a major Colombian airline in its chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the Southern District of New York.
- Representing a Canadian energy company and its affiliates in an ICC arbitration against a Chinese state-owned entity regarding the engineering, construction, and procurement of a solar photovoltaic power plant in Argentina.
- Representing a Singaporean NASDAQ-listed trade financier in an HKIAC arbitration against a South Korean hedge fund over a dispute of trade finance interests.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Ms. Kim received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from New York University. Riah has been recognized with high honors on the D.C. Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and has won Milbank’s Pro Bono Achievement award four times. Riah is a proficient Korean speaker.
