Primary Focus & Experience

Moritz Meister’s practice focuses on energy and infrastructure project financings, representing lenders, investors and other project participants. Focusing on large scale energy projects, he has advised clients on some of their most important global transactions. He provides advice on project design and transaction structuring at every phase of project development and financing, from project inception to equity investment to construction, permanent financing and refinancing. Moritz excels in interdisciplinary teams and offers an in-depth knowledge of the energy sector including the relevant markets.

• A large energy company on their investments in a refinery and related crude oil pipelines.*
• A global energy fund regarding their US energy projects, including investments by a major US bank.*
• The developer on the offtake agreements with a large US corporation based on the production of a power plant portfolio in Indiana.*
• A lender with regard to multiple loans provided to an infrastructure development platform.*
• Development banks on the restructuring of multiple loans for an energy project in Latin America.*
• GCM Grosvenor on their investment in a 17GW power plant development platform with projects spread all over the United States.*
• An international energy company on their acquisition of a majority stake in a 700MW energy portfolio under development in Colorado.*
• An international consortium on the acquisition of an equity stake in a 960MW energy project.*
• The lender consortium on a large-scale energy production facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with 4GW of integrated power production capacity.
• An energy company on their strategic joint venture with a national utility, which merged their respective power production portfolios and included 2.3GW of operational energy projects and a development pipeline of 9.4GW.*

Moritz Meister holds a Doctorate in energy law, magna cum laude, as well as a Master of Science, very good. He is author and co-author of 15+ national and international publications including Project Finance International – PFI and Edward Elgar. He repeatedly performed on transactions acclaimed by IJGlobal.
