Jonathan Lamberti is special counsel in the New York office of Milbank and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Arbitration Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Lamberti’s practice focuses on complex litigation matters spanning various areas of commercial, white collar, and securities litigation. He has significant experience representing clients in the financial services, insurance, and commercial real estate industries. He has represented major insurance companies in several class action and individual cost of insurance litigations. This work included the largest and longest running cost of insurance litigations in New York, which settled the night before the jury was chosen. He has represented lenders and borrowers in commercial real estate disputes, including assisting one client with obtaining a first-of-its kind preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order challenging a non-judicial UCC foreclosure at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. He also represented individuals and corporations in regulatory and criminal investigations, including the representations of senior traders, in-house counsel, and others in high-profile investigations.

Mr. Lamberti also extensive appellate experience. He has briefed appeals at the Second Circuit and among several departments of the Appellate Division of New York, and argued several appeals, including successfully obtaining a rare reversal of verdict following a bench trial.

Mr. Lamberti also maintains an active pro bono practice.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Lamberti received his law degree, summa cum laude, from the University at Buffalo Law School and his A.B., summa cum laude, in Political Science and Economics from Elmira College. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Buffalo Law Review and upon graduation was awarded the Max Koren Award, which honors the graduating student judged by the faculty to the most outstanding member of the class. In 2012, he received the Immigration Equality Safe Haven Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Representation. Mr. Lamberti clerked for the Honorable Peter W. Hall, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
