Derrik Sweeney

Primary Focus & Experience

Derrik has extensive experience in advising project sponsors and lenders in a range of conventional and renewable energy and infrastructure project financings, particularly in the US and Latin America. 

His recent representations include:

• Nscale in connection with a term loan facility for the financing of the acquisition of GPUs, GPU Servers, networking infrastructure, other hardware and related infrastructure, among others, for the provision of infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, products, services and solutions.
• The lenders in connection with an acquisition of GPU Servers and related Infrastructure by Nscale to be deployed in a data center located in North Carolina under a cloud services agreement with Meta.
• Goldman Sachs in connection with a term loan facility for the financing provided by Goldman Sachs for the acquisition by a prominent neocloud of GPUs, GPU Servers, networking infrastructure, other hardware and related infrastructure, among others, for the provision of infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, products, services and solutions.
• The lender in connection with the HoldCo financing of a 60 MW data center campus under construction in San Jose, California for Blue Owl.
• The lenders in connection with the construction of a hyperscale data center building with a critical load capacity of 96 MW on an up to 336 MW IT campus in Austin, Texas.
• Apollo Global Management in connection with the €1.5 billion investment by Apollo-managed affiliated entities, funds and clients into an Air France-KLM operating affiliate holding the trademark and most of the commercial partners contracts related to Air France and KLM’s joint loyalty program (Flying Blue).
• The lenders in connection with a $379 million financing for a portfolio of solar photovoltaic utility-scale and PMGD plants in Chile, owned and operated by Solek Holding SE (Solek).

Recognition & Accomplishments

Derrik earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and he received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. He is also fluent in Spanish and Arabic.
