In association with AlixPartners and LexisNexis, The Lawyer has named Milbank LLP London-based Global Leveraged Finance and Capital Markets partner Apostolos Gkoutzinis to its 2019 “Hot 100” Dealmakers list. The annual list recognizes standout in-house, private practice and bar lawyers in the UK.
This year’s honorees were selected from a competitive pool of hundreds across the legal profession. Categories included Dealmakers, Litigators, In-House Counsel, Barristers, Leaders and Disruptors. According to The Lawyer, those on the list are “lawyers of the moment,” and noted that once Mr. Gkoutzinis joined Milbank in 2018, he “immediately rolled his sleeves up on a string of headline transactions for senior lenders.”
Over the last year, Mr. Gkoutzinis has advised major global financial institutions including JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs on the financings of landmark transactions including: Carlyle and Investindustrial’s acquisition of two Danish lighting companies and Italian design and furniture company B&B Italia; Bain Capital’s €700 million acquisition of Italmatch Chemicals; and Jacobs Holding of Switzerland’s €600 million acquisition financing of Cognita.
Mr. Gkoutzinis ranks as one of the leading individuals in the European Leveraged Finance and Capital Markets, with particular experience and expertise in high-yield debt financings, refinancings and leveraged buyouts for companies, private equity sponsors and investment banks. He is also one of the leading international lawyers in relation to Greece. In recent years, he has provided strategic legal advice to substantially all of the major banks and listed companies of the country, as well as private companies and foreign investors on matters relating to private and public capital, restructurings, refinancings, and other corporate finance transactions.
