Milbank LLP is pleased to announce that the firm’s team in Seoul, South Korea, is featured in the second edition of The Legal 500 Green Guide APAC 2024, which spotlights the key firms in the Asia Pacific region that have been able to showcase a contribution to the green transition.

The Legal 500 Green Guide APAC 2024 commends Milbank’s South Korea office for its “particular expertise advising leading domestic and regional clients on investments and transactions that boost clean energy technologies and promote environmentally friendly practices.”

“Milbank is fortunate to work with clients who are leading the energy transition in Asia,” said Global Projects Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group partner David Gartside. “We look forward to advising on a range of sustainability-related projects and initiatives as we move toward a greener economy.”

The guide highlights the firm’s involvement in several notable transactions, such as representing Export-Import Bank of Korea, K-SURE and Euler Hermes in the $2 billion financing for SK On’s EV battery gigafactory plant in Hungary; assisting construction company SK Ecoplant in its acquisition of a 100% stake in Singaporean eWaste and IT asset recycling and repurposing company TES Envirocorp; and advising K-SURE and a consortium of international commercial banks in connection with a $711 million term loan to a joint venture by LG Energy Solution, Ltd., Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd., Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation to build an EV battery cell plant in Indonesia – a transaction that earned Milbank Project Finance Deal of the Year honors at the 2023 Asian Legal Business Korea Law Awards. The firm also is praised for its pro bono work in the region, including counseling the Smart Cities Network on tenders for its latest projects in Cambodia and Thailand.
