Milbank LLP is honored to have received the Law Firm Partner Award from Union Settlement for the firm’s commitment to providing legal support to the East Harlem community in New York City. Joel I. Krasnow, Alan Schacter, Collin Peck and Kevin Mu were applauded for their “ongoing and superb assistance.” The honor was received by Mr. Krasnow at the organization’s 2020 virtual fall reception on October 20, 2020. Over the past decade, Mr. Krasnow and other Milbank attorneys have partnered with Union Settlement to help the organization navigate complex issues ranging from pension concerns to contract negotiations. Annually, Union Settlement enriches the lives of more than 10,000 individuals in East Harlem through programs designed for youth, adult and senior education and development, college and work readiness, mental health counseling and small business development services.

Mr. Krasnow said: “We are humbled and honored by this recognition from Union Settlement. Having been personally involved with the organization for over 10 years, I can attest to how well aligned their mission is with Milbank’s commitment to public service through the advocacy for and empowerment of vulnerable communities.”

Over Milbank’s long history of pro bono advocacy and social justice work, our attorneys have dedicated more than a million pro bono hours to organizations that serve large, diverse populations as well to individual clients. Milbank is also one of few major firms to have an annual pro bono requirement for every attorney. In 2019, our US-based lawyers provided more than 45,000 hours to pro bono work, and over 91% of them completed more than 20 hours each.
