Milbank LLP Litigation & Arbitration partner Neal Katyal and Financial Restructuring partner Lisa Laukitis are featured on Lawdragon’s 2026 list of the “500 Leading Lawyers in America.” The list, assembled based on research and peer nominations, recognizes “brilliant, impassioned and dedicated” advocates who are expected to “shape the law for decades to come.”
Mr. Katyal leads Milbank’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice and is one of just two lawyers nationwide who has been named in the Lawdragon 500 every year since its inception in 2005. He focuses on appellate and complex litigation, with extensive experience in all sorts of matters of federal and state law. He is one of a few living individuals to have argued more than 50 cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, and recently made headlines for his oral argument at the Supreme Court in Trump v. V.O.S. Selections. This followed his successful oral argument in V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump before an en banc Federal Circuit, which struck down President Trump’s tariffs as illegal and unconstitutional. Before entering private practice, Mr. Katyal served as Acting Solicitor General of the United States.
Ms. Laukitis has over 25 years of experience advising clients on all aspects of corporate restructurings across a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, retail, consumer products, metals and mining, automotive, energy and shipping. She primarily represents companies in connection with their out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases, and also frequently represents private equity and hedge funds in connection with their investments in and acquisitions of distressed companies.
