Milbank LLP Litigation & Arbitration partner Joshua Sterling has been featured as a Law360 Fintech MVP for 2025, one of just four practitioners recognized in the category.
In his interview with the publication, Josh reflects on his path from government service to private practice, the challenges and opportunities that have shaped his career, and what draws him to fintech. He highlights the fast-moving nature of the sector — from blockchain innovations to evolving regulatory frameworks — and underscores the value of staying humble, curious and adaptable as the industry continues to shift.
"I've always been interested in markets, interested in financial services, and the basis of all of that is technology," Josh explained.
Law360 also noted his leadership in several high-profile matters over the past year, including Milbank’s representation of Kalshi in disputes with state regulators in New Jersey and Nevada.
Additionally, Josh offers advice to junior attorneys, encouraging them to pursue work that is genuinely engaging to them.
“If you master a particular area of law, and that particular area of law is very flexible and wide-ranging — because I think the law of financial markets is — you're going to be set up to always have something new and interesting to do," he said.
