Milbank LLP Litigation & Arbitration partner Gurbir S. Grewal was a featured speaker on a panel titled “Regulatory Reset: Cryptocurrency Fraud Enforcement as Federal Oversight Evolves” at New York University (NYU) on October 21, 2025. The panel was hosted by the NYU Journal of Legislation & Public Policy (JLPP) and the Program on Corporate Compliance & Enforcement at NYU School of Law (PCCE).
The discussion explored the current administration's cryptocurrency fraud enforcement and regulatory policies, how they differ from the prior administration's policies and whether state regulators are altering their cryptocurrency fraud enforcement strategies in response to the shifting regulatory landscape.
Before joining Milbank, Mr. Grewal served for over three years as Director of the Division of Enforcement of the SEC. As SEC Enforcement Director, Mr. Grewal oversaw all investigations, enforcement actions and litigation conducted by the SEC and supervised a staff of more than 1,300 attorneys and accountants nationwide from 2021 to 2024. During his tenure, the Commission brought over 2,400 enforcement actions, resulting in orders for more than $20 billion in financial remedies.
