Gurbir S. Grewal, Litigation & Arbitration partner at Milbank LLP, former Director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement and a 1999 graduate of William & Mary Law School, delivered the commencement address for William & Mary Law School’s Class of 2026 Commencement Ceremony on May 16, 2026.
Before joining Milbank, Mr. Grewal served for over three years as Director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement and previously served as the 61st Attorney General of the State of New Jersey. He also served as Bergen County Prosecutor and as a federal prosecutor for a decade in New York and New Jersey.
William & Mary Law School Dean A. Benjamin Spencer described Mr. Grewal as “a public servant, valued legal partner, and citizen lawyer” who “embodies the values of excellence, professionalism, and a commitment to justice.”
