Litigation & Arbitration partners Atara Miller and John Lu have been chosen to serve on Law360’s editorial advisory boards for 2020. Ms. Miller has been selected to serve on the Media and Entertainment Editorial Advisory Board. Mr. Lu has been selected to serve on the Life Sciences Editorial Advisory Board. Their board service will include sharing insights on emerging topics for future coverage and providing feedback on the publication throughout 2020.
Ms. Miller is a partner in the New York office of Milbank LLP. Her practice focuses on federal and state court litigation of complex commercial matters and bankruptcy-related litigation. Ms. Miller litigates and negotiates appropriate rates for music performing rights, on behalf of Broadcast Music, Inc., one of three national performance rights organizations. She obtained a trial victory for BMI against Pandora Media, Inc. The decision was identified by Law360 as one of the biggest copyright rulings of the year. Ms. Miller also successfully challenged the Department of Justice’s interpretation of BMI’s antitrust Consent Decree, and was identified as Litigator of the Week by the American Lawyer for the victory. Most recently, Ms. Miller represented BMI in settling a rate setting case against the over 10,000 local commercial broadcast radio stations. She is currently representing BMI in its rate litigation against the North American Concert Promoters Association.
Mr. Lu is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Milbank LLP. His practice focuses on patent litigation and life sciences matters. He has represented clients in matters involving patent infringement, biosimilars, ANDA litigation and licensing disputes. Mr. Lu also represents clients in connection with proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. His prior life sciences industry clients have included Genentech, Biogen, Gilead Sciences and Santarus (now Salix Pharmaceuticals). Mr. Lu is currently the chair of the board of directors for Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center (APADRC), a nonprofit organization. He is conversant in Chinese.
