Milbank LLP represented the global coordinators and the joint bookrunners in connection with the offering by Athens International Airport S.A. (“AIA”) of €500 million 3.750% notes due 2033. The transaction marks AIA’s first international bond issue since its successful listing on Euronext Athens in 2024. The proceeds from the offering are expected to be used to refinance existing indebtedness and for general corporate purposes.
Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE and Morgan Stanley acted as global coordinators. AXIA, BofA Securities, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, J.P. Morgan and National Bank of Greece acted as joint bookrunners.
Founded in 1996 as a public-private partnership, AIA is responsible for operating and developing Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos,” the largest airport in Greece and the most significant entry point to the country. In 2025, the airport served 34 million passengers connecting Greece to 164 destinations in 55 countries.
The Milbank team was led by European Leveraged Finance/Capital Markets partner Apostolos Gkoutzinis, associate Stefanos Serfas and law clerk Despoina Mangel.
