LONDON, 2 October 2013 – Milbank has won “Best Contribution by a Law Firm” at the 2013 LawWorks Pro Bono Awards. Milbank was nominated for this award by Pro Bono client, Speaking up for Advocacy (SUFA). SUFA, was a user-led advocacy charity based in Sheffield offering support to local people with learning disabilities. Following the decision by the board to close the charity (due to funding cuts), Milbank advised on the transfer of SUFA's assets to another local charity with a similar charitable purpose, and on each of the steps necessary to validly dissolve the charity (including the limited company through which it operated) and remove it from the Register of Charities.
