In Memoriam: Sander Bak

We are mourning the passing of our friend and partner, Sander Bak, who died on June 19, 2015 at the age of 40. Our deepest sympathies go out to Sander’s wife, four children, family and friends.

An accomplished member of our Litigation Group, Sander joined Milbank as an associate in 2002 and became a partner in 2006. He was highly regarded for his commercial litigation work, with a focus on disputes involving international law, as well as litigation related to securities, bankruptcy, and trusts & estates. Sander was also recognized for his exceptional pro bono service, earning awards from the American Bar Association and Legal Services NYC for his work on civil rights, housing, family law, immigration and criminal law matters. A prolific author and sought-after speaker on international law and securities litigation issues, Sander held degrees from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and Yeshiva University.

While his time with us was far too short, Sander made a lasting personal and professional impact on our firm and he will be sorely missed by his colleagues at Milbank.
