NEW YORK, August 24, 2015 – Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP soared to 6th place on The American Lawyer’s annual survey of third-, fourth- and fifth-year associates at major US law firms, published in the magazine’s September 2015 issue.
The survey asks midlevel associates about several aspects of job satisfaction, including “compensation and benefits, training and guidance, relations with partners and other associates, the interest and satisfaction level of the work, the firm’s policy on billable hours and management’s openness about firm strategies and partnership chances,” according to Am Law. Firms with the highest scores are characterized by the publication as the “best places to work” in the industry.
In an interview with Am Law, Milbank Chairman Scott Edelman noted that associates have expressed a great deal of satisfaction in the firm’s first-of-its kind professional development program, Milbank@Harvard, through which third- through seventh-year associates attend Harvard Law School for a week of intensive training each year. “When they come back [from Milbank@Harvard], I get comments like 'Scott, I just want you to know that it was the best professional experience of my life,'" Mr. Edelman told the magazine.
Milbank has placed on Am Law’s annual A-List of elite law firms, which measures associate satisfaction along with firm profitability, diversity, and pro bono work, for over a decade, ranking 8th in 2015.
