Milbank LLP partner Apostolos Gkoutzinis will join a panel on “Defence and Innovation” at the Greek-British Symposium on October 9, 2026. The discussion will focus on the evolution of European defence policy, including the growing convergence between the EU and Britain on integrated security, and the opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation to drive innovation, streamline military platforms, expand production capacity for advanced equipment and generate broader economic benefits across the defence sector. Apostolos will cover the role of financial markets in financing defence capabilities, including through the capital markets and the banking system. The panel will also examine how Greece and the UK can partner to develop innovative defence platforms and capabilities tailored to smaller countries on Europe's periphery.
This year's Symposium, themed “Redefining UK-Greece Relations,” explores key geopolitical, economic and technological shifts shaping Europe. Leaders and experts from both nations will gather to discuss the new geoeconomic landscape, energy security and affordability, defence cooperation, and education and culture.
Organised as a privately led, sponsorship-funded bilateral forum, the Greek-British Symposium is delivered under the guidance of a Steering Committee, in partnership with the Delphi Economic Forum, and with the support of the Greek Embassy in London, the British Embassy in Athens and the British Council.
The event is held under the Chatham House Rule and is by invitation only.
