Ajal Notowicz, Charl Van der Merwe and Charlie Thomas Author Article for PLC Magazine

Milbank LLP Global Antitrust and FDI partner Ajal Notowicz, associate Charl Van der Merwe and trainee solicitor Charlie Thomas have authored an article for the September 2025 issue of PLC Magazine.

The article is titled “National security and investment: tweaks and trends” and explores the trends highlighted by the UK government in its annual report on the operation of the National Security and Investment Act 2021 (NSI Act) in the year 2024-25. It also discusses the government’s consultation on changes to the sectors requiring mandatory notification under the NSI Act.

Ajal Notowicz advises clients on UK, EU and multinational antitrust notifications, competition law compliance and FDI matters. He represents private equity firms and industrial clients in global antitrust and FDI approval proceedings across a wide range of sectors.

Charl van der Merwe has wide experience acting for clients in antitrust, consumer protection and FDI matters. He has worked on large international cartel and other conduct investigations and his practice focuses on advising on multijurisdictional antitrust and FDI notifications, in both private and public transactions.

Charlie Thomas is a trainee solicitor who is due to start shortly as an associate in Milbank’s Global Antitrust and FDI practice.
