Primary Focus & Experience

As a member of the firm’s Global Risk & National Security Practice, Mr. Heiden advises clients on international trade and foreign direct investment regulatory matters, including economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the U.S. Department of State, Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation, export controls administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and U.S. anti-boycott laws and regulations. In addition, Mr. Heiden counsels clients on various national security laws and regulations, including reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and the regulations administered and enforced by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and the National Industrial Security Program (NISP/NISPOM). Mr. Heiden has advised investment banks, private equity firms, commercial banks and various corporate and institutional actors, in their roles as lenders, underwriters, borrowers, issuers, purchasers and sellers.
