Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Perez Escobedo’s practice focuses on the representation of project sponsors and financial institutions on a range of US and cross-border project financings.

His recent representations include:

• The lenders in connection with a US$1.35 billion financing granted to Esentia Hub Chavez Holding, S. de R.L. de C.V. This transaction was named “Structured Loan Deal of the Year” by Bonds and Loans 2023;
• The senior lenders in connection with a financing granted to Obton Solenergi Lamar Chile SpA, a subsidiary of Obton Solenergi Lamar ApS, for the acquisition, development and construction of a portfolio of photovoltaic solar projects Chile;
• The senior lenders in connection with a financing granted to Akuo Atlantica PMGD Holding SPA, a subsidiary of Akuo Energy, S.A.S., and Atlantica Infraestructura Sostenible SLU, for the development and construction of a portfolio of nine photovoltaic solar projects in Chile;
• Corporación Financiera Colombiana S.A. – Corficolombiana and a subsidiary in both the financing and subsequent refinancing of a Fourth Generation (4G) toll road in Colombia;
• Actis’ subsidiary Valia Energía in connection with a US$530 million bond financing and related working capital facility to refinance existing debt of the MT Falcon and EVM assets in Mexico; and
• TAG Norte Holding, S. de R.L. de C.V., and TAG Pipelines Norte, S. de R.L. de C.V., and IEnova and Brookfield Infrastructure as Sponsors, in the restructuring of the existing US$1.2 billion credit facility for the Los Ramones II Norte gas pipeline project, and the simultaneous issuance of a project bond for US$332 million.*

Mr. Perez Escobedo also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions in the infrastructure and energy projects area.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Perez Escobedo is a native Spanish speaker.  He earned his juris doctorate, post-graduate specialization in commercial law with honors and LL.M. in financial law with honors from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.  Mr. Perez Escobedo also received an LL.M. and a business law certificate from Duke University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in New York and Mexico.
