With over 25 years’ experience advising on restructuring matters, Nick has developed an exceptionally broad practice. Widely recognised as a leading restructuring lawyer, he co-heads the firm’s Financial Restructuring practice in London with a focus on advising clients on high value complex situations, usually with a significant international element.

Primary Focus & Experience

Over the course of his career Nick has developed exceptionally broad experience having advised:

  • just about every type of stakeholder with a role to play in a restructuring including bondholders, claims holders and traders, commercial banks, creditor committees, debtors, development banks, distressed investors, export credit agencies, hedge funds, insolvency practitioners, lenders, management, private equity houses, regulators, shareholders and trustees;

  • on a very broad range of types of restructuring including bond restructurings and liability management, CMBS restructurings, corporate restructurings, formal insolvencies, leveraged loan restructurings and project finance restructurings;

  • on transactions in countries in six of the world’s seven continents (Antarctica has yet to produce a suitable transaction) including Australia, Belgium, Botswana, England, Canada, Dubai, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mozambique, The Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, The Ukraine and the United States of America; and

  • on a wide range of industries including banking, health care, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, power, real estate, retail, shipping, travel and waste management.

  • Advising ECA lenders to Oi, on the $17 billion restructuring of one of Brazil’s largest telecoms companies;
  • Advising a listed satellite company on the restructuring of its bond and other debt;

  • Advising Official Committees in the bankruptcies of Lehman and Kodak.
