James Kong is an associate in the New York office of Milbank and a member of the firm’s Leveraged Finance Group.
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Kong has counseled US and foreign financial institutions on a diverse range of regulatory and compliance matters, particularly with respect to the requirements of the Volcker Rule and other aspects of the Dodd-Frank Act. He also has experience in drafting and negotiating futures and options agreements, cleared swap documentation, and other trading documentation on behalf of both buy-side and sell-side market participants.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Kong received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as a staff editor on the Columbia Business Law Review. He also received a joint Certificate in Global Business Law and Governance from Columbia University School of Law, University of Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne) and Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). He received his B.A. in Business Economics, cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
