Milbank LLP’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Mikeisha Anderson Jones, Esq. commented on what diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) will look like in 2022 for the cover story of Diversity Professional’s Winter 2021 issue. Along with other DEI leaders from the education, healthcare and legal sectors, Ms. Anderson Jones discussed the present and future of the profession, including new recruitment and professional development strategies and an increased emphasis on communication and connection.
Ms. Anderson Jones commented, “I expect there to be new, complex conversations around inclusion, belonging, and well-being. Given the impact of COVID and shifts to and from remote work, the return to office provides new opportunities for leveraging new technologies, connecting across the world, and building a more inclusive culture where all employees can succeed and thrive.” She added that she expects “amplified conversations around social justice” in the US, given the upcoming 2022 midterm elections, and expects global conversations to focus on ESG.
She also focused on the firm’s specific initiatives, noting, “We will also continue evolving our recruitment strategies, mentoring initiatives and talent development, while promoting opportunities for employees to connect across experiences and moments that matter to them, and matter to the communities we serve.”
