Milbank LLP International Arbitration partner Viren Mascarenhas spoke at the Critical Minerals & Energy Investment North America Forum in New York on September 11, 2023. The two-day Forum is the only event in the Americas dedicated to the critical minerals sector.
The panel, “Supporting and Encouraging Investments in Critical Minerals as the Key to Clean Energy Future and Nations’ National Security,” covered a variety of issues, including the importance of critical minerals to various industries; access to critical minerals and supply chain issues; the relationship between critical minerals and renewable energy technologies; and ESG/risk considerations.
Mr. Mascarenhas has significant experience advising mining companies on risk-management and dispute-avoidance provisions, especially in cross-border or multi-jurisdictional operations. He recently authored a Milbank Insight regarding critical minerals with respect to the energy transition.
