Peter is an associate in the Litigation & Arbitration Group, specialising in international arbitration conducted under all of the major rules. He has acted as counsel and advocate in a broad range of disputes, with a strong focus on cases relating to energy, construction, infrastructure and telecoms projects. Peter also has considerable experience in High Court and Court of Appeal litigation and various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, adjudication and expert determination.

  • Acting for a group of lenders in an ICC arbitration in relation to claims of force majeure, bribery and corruption under a tolling agreement concerning an LNG plant in Egypt.
  • Acting for a South Asian government in High Court proceedings concerning the recognition and enforcement of an ICSID award arising from a USD 900 million power generation dispute.
  • Acting for a South Asian government in ICC arbitration proceedings relating to claims arising from a power purchase agreement.
  • Acting for a US power company in an LCIA arbitration relating to breaches of a joint development agreement concerning a gas power plant project in Cote d’Ivoire.
  • Acting for a Kuwaiti Respondent in an ICC arbitration arising out of a USD multi-billion joint venture between two petrochemicals companies.
  • Acting for a large UK energy company in High Court litigation over payments under a gas sale agreement and issues of force majeure.
  • Acting for an Australian Respondent in a USD 190 million Commercial Court claim arising out of alleged breach of a 'farm-in' agreement in relation to oil exploration off Kenya under a production sharing contract.
  • Acting for a Qatari Respondent in an ICC arbitration construction dispute relating to delays and additional costs of USD 200 million in a polysilicon plant.
  • Acting for an Iraqi Claimant in an ICC arbitration claim for delays and additional works in relation to the construction of a power plant in Iraq.
  • Advising an Indonesian power company in relation to disputes under an EPC contract and a power purchase agreement arising from the construction of a geothermal power plant in Indonesia.
  • Advising a group of Lenders in relation to disputes under an EPC contract and a power purchase agreement arising from the construction of a coal fired power plant in Indonesia.
  • Advising a Chilean owner of a regasification terminal in Chile in relation to disputes with a contractor concerning defects in the facility.
  • Acting for a Kuwaiti Respondent in a mediation relating to extensions of time and compensation for additional works in relation to the construction of water towers on a petrochemical plant in Kuwait.
  • Acting for an English construction company in an adjudication relating to water quality issues in hospitals in England.
  • Acting for an American bank in an adjudication relating to design defects and water quality issues in a property in Canary Wharf.
  • Acting for an English transport company in a tripartite adjudication relating to claims for variations in a construction contract for the refurbishment of a London transport hub.
  • Acting for a major Turkish bank in relation to a USD multi-billion telecoms dispute with a Russian entity, involving LCIA arbitration and BVI court proceedings.
  • Acting for a US satellite operator in High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings concerning a USD 80 million dispute over the provision of satellite services in Pakistan.
  • Acting for a Saudi Arabian Respondent in an LCIA arbitration concerning a USD 400 million satellite industry dispute and subsequent enforcement proceedings.
  • Acting for a Saudi Arabian Claimant in High Court proceedings, including injunctive relief, in relation to trespasses on a satellite by a terrorist organisation.
  • Acting for a Bahraini company in two DIFC-LCIA arbitrations arising from a shareholder dispute over the ownership of a company with restaurant franchise rights in the UAE.
  • Acting for a Mongolian bank in relation to LCIA arbitration proceedings and High Court proceedings concerning a USD multi-million loan agreement.
  • Acting for a European bank in relation to LIBOR investigations carried out by US, European and UK financial authorities.
  • Acting for a European bank in High Court proceedings against a Monegasque individual, concerning an aircraft financing dispute.
  • Acting for a UK bank in relation to a dispute with a Russian entity arising from an aircraft financing transaction.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Peter is an accredited Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He regularly publishes arbitration related articles, and co-authored the arbitration chapter on international arbitration in “Dispute Resolution in the Energy Sector: A Practitioner’s Handbook” (Globe Law & Business 2012).
