LOS ANGELES, May 16, 2008 – For the third consecutive year, Linda Dakin-Grimm, a partner in the international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, has been ranked a “Top Women Litigator” by the Daily Journal. Ms. Dakin-Grimm was recognized for her long-term record of achievement in business and reinsurance litigation and arbitration.
Ms. Dakin-Grimm’s most notable trial victory within the past year was a $43 million win for her client PSM in a breach-of-contract case, PSM Holding Corp. v. National Farm Financial Corporation. The jury verdict, handed down after a five-week trial, was ranked among the “Top Plaintiff's Verdicts” in 2007 by the Daily Journal and The National Law Journal. Ms. Dakin-Grimm and her team were recognized for their deft use of video deposition technology in persuading the jury to render the decision.
Additionally in 2007, Ms. Dakin-Grimm served (and continues to serve) as lead counsel to Compass Financial Partners in a hotly contested case pending in the US District Court in Las Vegas. A large group of individual investors, dissatisfied with a sale of assets conducted by the US Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas, brought suit against Ms. Dakin-Grimm’s client in the federal court. During a cross-examination, Ms. Dakin-Grimm forced the principal plaintiff to admit that she had falsely testified in a deposition. This case is ongoing with a trial date likely in the coming year.
Ms. Dakin-Grimm is also a champion and supporter of furthering women’s professional success and is a former Co-Chair of Milbank’s Diversity Committee and current member of the committee. She has published articles on women’s issues in the legal profession.
Ms. Dakin-Grimm received her B.A., cum laude, from Yale University and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
