NEW YORK, January 5, 2012 – International law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has announced that Daniel J. Michalchuk, has been promoted to partner. Mr. Michalchuk is a member of the Global Project Finance Group specializing in representing sponsors, financial institutions and other investors in project financings and in the development of and investment in projects across various industries, including power and transmission, renewable energy, oil and gas, LNG, metals and mining, satellite, telecom and petrochemicals.
Spanning international borders and industries, his recent clients include the institutional investors in the Hudson Transmission Project; the lenders in the Cross Sound Cable Project; the lenders in the Sentinel, Marsh Landing and Equipower power projects; Itochu in its investment in the Drummond Company; Iridium in the financing of the NEXT satellite constellation; the lenders in the Similco copper mine in British Columbia; KGen in the sale of the Sandersville power project; First Solar in the development and sale of the Blythe solar project; the lenders in the financing of the Manzanillo LNG facility in Mexico; and the lenders in the development financings of several petrochemical projects in Trinidad.
Mr. Michalchuk was recognized in Chambers USA 2010 and 2011 as an "Associate to Watch."
He earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Laws degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He received a Bachelor's degree from Queen's University and a Master's degree in international relations from Carleton University.
