LOS ANGELES, March 13, 2009 – The international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP announced today that Mark Shinderman has joined the firm as a partner. He will be a member of the firm’s Financial Restructuring Group, resident in the Los Angeles office. Previously, Mr. Shinderman was a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP and head of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring Department.

Mr. Shinderman’s experience focuses on restructuring companies inside and outside of bankruptcy, bankruptcy-related litigation and the purchase of assets out of bankruptcy. He also has advised a number of clients on how to mitigate bankruptcy risk when the counterparty (in a transaction or litigation) may be in financial distress. He represents creditors’ committees, debtors, purchasers of assets from troubled companies, key vendors and other important constituencies. He has been involved with numerous high profile bankruptcy cases, including Adelphia Communications Corporation, United Airlines, Exide Technologies, Inc., Kmart Corporation, Musicland Holding Corp., Calpine Corporation, SeraCare Life Sciences, Inc., Leiner Health Products and Lake at Las Vegas. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, bondholders and hedge funds throughout the country.
Mr. Shinderman is a frequent lecturer at bankruptcy and distressed investing conferences nationwide and has authored more than 20 articles on bankruptcy-related issues. He has been recognized as a California Super Lawyer and in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Shinderman received his law degree from Harvard Law School (cum laude) and his B.S.B.A. from Georgetown University (summa cum laude). He is a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association, Financial Lawyers Conference, Panel of Bankruptcy Mediators, California Bankruptcy Forum and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Currently, he serves as the President of the Board of Directors of Students Run L.A., a non-profit organization that provides after school services for 3,000 at-risk youth annually.
