For decades, Milbank has been recognized as one of the world’s leading project finance law firms, with a special expertise in large, complex infrastructure projects. This expertise enabled us to advise industry participants in combined power and desalination projects, new water distribution systems and wastewater management plants. We have a team of partners around the world who now have significant experience in the development and financing of water industry projects. As further indication of our attorneys’ involvement in the sector, one of our partners currently serves in a volunteer civic role as chairman of the board of directors of the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority, the “AA-rated” government agency that supplies water and wastewater services to the US national capital region and which operates the world’s largest advanced wastewater treatment plant.

We have represented industry participants in some of the most prominent desalination and power projects in the Middle East – including such “deals of the year” as the Hamma Water Desalination project in Algeria and the Sohar Independent Power and Water Desalination project in Oman – as well as acquisitions and financings of water distribution and wastewater companies around the world.
