The Security Traders Association of New York, also known as STANY, is an affiliate of the Security Traders Association (STA), a worldwide professional trade organization for equities traders. With more than 2500 members in the New York metropolitan area, STANY is the largest STA affiliate. John Kassebaum and a group of his fellow traders founded STANY in 1937. They joined the STA in responding to increased regulatory oversight of the stock market as the country emerged from the Depression. Since its inception, STANY has maintained a commitment to its original mission despite dramatic changes in the business, investment, and regulatory environment.
