Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals
Our European team has been involved in many of the most innovative oil, gas and petrochemical projects to date. We are advising on petrochemicals facilities in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and, most recently:
-
the $1.1 billion Qatofin Project in Qatar which was named "EMEA Petrochemicals Deal of the Year" by Project Finance magazine.
-
the lenders in the $2.8 billion financing of the approximately US$5 billion Yemen LNG plant and associated infrastructure, representing the largest ever limited recourse financing of a project in Yemen. The project’s sponsors include TOTAL, Hunt Oil, Yemen Gas, SKCorp., Hyundai, KOGAS and GASSP. The financing involves a wide range of commercial banks and international financing institutions, including French, Korean and Japanese export credit agencies. This deal received numerous accolades, including “Deal of the Year” and “Oil and Gas Deal of the Year” by Infrastructure Journal, “Middle East LNG Deal of the Year” by Project Finance magazine, “Middle East Oil and Gas Deal of the Year” by Project Finance International and “Deal of the Year” by Global Trade Review, and
-
the Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company (SEPC) in the financing of a $2.6 billion shared ethane cracker/polyethylene processing facility (amounting to a series of four interlinked process industry complexes) in Al–Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia, to be funded by commercial banks, government funding institutions and four ECAs (K-Exim, KEIC, Sace and Hermes). The project has been designated both “Global Deal of the Year 2006” and “Middle East Islamic Deal of the Year 2006” by Project Finance magazine and as “EMEA Petrochemicals Deal of the Year 2006” by Project Finance International magazine.
We have advised energy companies on petrochemical, gas and other energy projects in Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Qatar and Azerbaijan.
