Milbank and Individual Lawyers Honored by NYC Legal Aid Society

New York, October 7, 2008 - At a ceremony attended by a crowd that filled the Great Hall of the City Bar Tuesday evening, Milbank and several of its lawyers were honored by the Legal Aid Society. The evening included remarks by Chief Judge Kaye. Milbank was honored for its internship program, which has provided many thousands of hours of help to Legal Aid clients. Individual lawyers honored included: Jonathan Petts, for his work in the Juvenile Rights Practice; Adam Marlowe for his in the Immigration Law Unit; Grace Gilligan for hers in the Juvenile Rights Office; and Michal M. Dahan for successfully defending a tenant at a NYCHA termination proceeding. In addition, Dennis O'Donnell, Jeremy Sussman, and Charles Rubio were honored for "transforming a low-income Harlem co-op from a debt-ridden tenement into a functioning, rehabilitated refuge for its tenants in a rapidly gentrifying Harlem neighborhood."
