Milbank Represents The Robertson Family in the Largest "Donor Intent" Settlement in History

NEW YORK, December 11, 2008 ― The Robertson Family yesterday concluded a settlement with Princeton University pursuant to which Princeton will pay more than $100 million to charities controlled by the Robertson Family. This litigation has been widely viewed as the most important case in higher education on the question of honoring the wishes of a donor when funds are given on a restricted basis. The settlement represents the largest "donor intent" settlement in U.S. history.

Milbank partners David Gelfand and James Sligar represented the Robertson Family in negotiating the settlement. Click here to view the Wall Street Journal article describing the underlying litigation and the settlement.
