Milbank Elects Four Attorneys to Partnership
November 3, 2008 — The international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP announced today the election of four new partners to the Firm’s New York, Munich, Frankfurt and Singapore offices. The new partners are: Paul E. Denaro, Martin Erhardt, Peter Memminger and James J. Murray.
NEW YORK:
Paul E. Denaro, formerly an associate, has been named a partner in Milbank’s Global Securities Group. His experience includes both public and private offerings of debt and equity securities. He has represented both issuers and underwriters in IPOs, secondary equity offerings, investment grade and high-yield bond offerings, Tier 1 and Tier II capital securities offerings, convertible preferred stock offerings, aircraft securitizations, exchange offers and restructurings. Mr. Denaro has significant experience in both domestic and international capital markets transactions.
In addition to transactional work, Mr. Denaro’s securities practice has included regulatory counseling under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Investment Company Act of 1940.
Mr. Denaro graduated from Columbia Law School as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar in 1999. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors in economics and history in 1996 from Duke University. Mr. Denaro is a member of the New York and California bars.
MUNICH:
Martin Erhardt, formerly an associate, has been named a partner in Milbank’s Global Corporate Group. Mr. Erhardt joined Milbank as part of the team founding Milbank's Munich office in 2004. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, corporate advisory work and insolvency law.
Mr. Erhardt studied law at the German universities of Bayreuth and Heidelberg and the New York University School of Law. He holds a doctorate degree (Dr. jur.) from the University of Heidelberg and a post-graduate degree from the New York University School of Law (LL.M.). Before joining Milbank, Mr. Erhardt practiced as an attorney with a leading international law firm in Frankfurt. He is admitted to the German and New York bars.
FRANKFURT:
Peter Memminger, formerly an associate, has been elected a partner in Milbank’s Global Corporate Group. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers and equity capital market transactions with a particular focus on private equity transactions. He is also involved in restructuring-related transactions. Mr. Memminger joined Milbank as part of the team founding Milbank's Munich office in 2004.
Mr. Memminger studied law at the universities of Freiburg, Germany, and Strasbourg, France, and holds a post-graduate degree from the University of Miami (LL.M.). Before joining Milbank, Mr. Memminger practiced at a leading international law firm in Munich. Prior to that, he worked for a management board member of a U.S. bank in its German M&A department as well as in a specialized M&A boutique. He is a member of the German bar.
SINGAPORE:
James J. Murray, formerly an associate, has been elected a partner in Milbank’s Global Project Finance Group. He regularly represents export credit agencies, commercial banks, developers and private equity investors in international project financings and acquisitions. In addition, his experience includes advising on structured finance transactions and general cross border lending. Mr. Murray began his legal practice in Australia in 1995. He joined Milbank in 1999. Mr. Murray worked in the New York office from 1999 - 2003 and in the Tokyo office from 2003 - 2005. He joined Milbank’s Singapore office in 2006.
Mr. Murray is named in the most recent edition of Chambers Asia as a leading lawyer for project finance.
Mr. Murray received his combined Bachelor of Laws and Commerce degree (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 1994 and his Master of Laws degree from Monash University, Australia, in 1999. He is admitted to practice in New York, England and Wales, and Victoria, Australia.
