Milbank Partner Ed Feo Ranked Number 1 in Four Areas by Chambers USA 2005

Feo Recognized for Leadership in Projects, Energy & Natural Resources, Renewable Energy and Transport: Road

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 14, 2005 – The third edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, 2005, recognizes Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP partner Ed Feo among the Number 1 ranking U.S. lawyers in four areas of expertise. The top rankings signify the recognition by both clients and peers of Feo’s status at the forefront of these areas of legal practice.

Milbank’s Feo was rated Number 1 by Chambers USA in the following practice areas: Projects (National), Projects (California), Energy & Natural Resources (California) and Transport: Roads (National).

According to Chambers USA, Feo is called “one of Milbank’s stars” and “one of the most prominent names in the sector” by clients and peers in the Projects arena. Based in Los Angeles, Feo, co-chair of Milbank’s Project practice along with Eric Silverman in New York, leads the firm’s California projects team, which according to Chambers USA, is noted for its “sheer breadth of practice, extending throughout the western hemisphere.” In particular, Feo is cited for his excellence in the fields of LNG, renewable energy and toll roads throughout the United States and Latin America. Feo represents financial institutions, project sponsors and private equity groups. Recent deals include the $822 million financing of Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG project, the largest LNG financing in the U.S. to date, and the $295 million privately placed dividend deal for the Crockett Cogeneration power plant in California.

Described by clients and peers as “ubiquitous” and “extremely talented”, Ed Feo is widely acknowledged as a leading specialist in wind energy projects. His knowledge of and focus on alternative energy has enabled Milbank to capture a substantial share of the renewable energy market in the U.S. Recent wind energy projects include the acquisition by PPM Energy of the 150 MW Shiloh Wind Project in northern California, the $123 million Three Winds Holdings wind project in Wyoming and California, the $108.5 million financing of the Sweetwater II wind project in Texas, the $76 million Top Deer Project Financing and the $66 million Kaeheawa Wind Power project in Hawaii.

In addition to his involvement in energy and projects work, Feo has developed an expertise in road-related transportation matters, and Chambers states that he is recommended for multiparty deals that require tactical ability and business acumen. The American Lawyer named Feo a “DEALMAKER OF THE YEAR” for 2004 for his lead role in the $1.8 billion Chicago Skyway privatization project. Feo represented the Cintra-Macquarie consortium in its successful bid for a 99-year agreement to lease and operate the Chicago Skyway toll road. One of the most significant deals of 2004, the Chicago Skyway privatization was named the “NORTH AMERICAN TRANSPORT DEAL OF THE YEAR” and “OVERALL NORTH AMERICAN DEAL OF THE YEAR” by Euromoney’s Project Finance magazine.

Feo’s capability in public-private partnerships was also evidenced by his lead role representing the project sponsor Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG) in the landmark $773 million California State Route 125 South (SR 125) toll road project.
