In preparing this introduction to the firm for you, a number of our associates and partners sat down together and summarized the qualities and aspects of the Firm that, in their opinion, make Milbank an exceptional place to be, both today and tomorrow.

Milbank today is more than 500 attorneys from 19 countries, speaking 38 languages.  We are committed to fostering and maintaining an inclusive environment where individual differences among us are respected, valued and recognized as a source of strength of the firm.

Day to day, the working style of the partnership results in an "open door" policy that allows for free exchange, enables us to get things done quickly, and makes work patterns streamlined, less hierarchical and less formally structured. This operating style leads to day-to-day training and feedback for associates.

Building on the core strengths of our leading practices in M&A, litigation, corporate finance and project finance, many young partners are developing newer practice groups, for example in the areas of technology and intellectual property, and look to associates to play an important role in that growth. By being involved in the development of important areas of the Firm's practice, associates feel as though they have a stake in what happens, a sense of ownership and a sense of inclusion in firm strategies for growth.

Because of the caliber and volume of work at the Firm, and their close relationships to partners, associates do not compete with one another. Rather, they work toward a greater goal.
