Helfried Schwarz is a partner in the Global Transportation Finance Department of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. Prior to his return in August 2005 to the firm's New York office, he was the partner in charge of the Frankfurt office. He also previously was resident in the firm's London office. Experienced in a wide variety of aircraft and other structured equipment financings, his most recent assignments have included representing clients in domestic and cross-border leveraged lease transactions; enhanced equipment trust certificate offerings; aircraft portfolio securitizations; pre-delivery payment and warehouse facilities; aircraft acquisitions and dispositions; airline bankruptcies and restructurings; and export credit agency supported financings. His clients have included financial institutions, airlines and leasing companies. Mr. Schwarz is recommended for aviation law in Legal Media Group's The Best of the Best as well as their Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers. He has been recognized as a leading practitioner in The International Who's Who of Aviation Lawyers and The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers. Mr. Schwarz has been ranked in the “Band 1” tier of aviation finance lawyers in the 2008 edition of Chambers USA. He has spoken at a number of conferences, most recently at the Strategic Research Institute’s Cape Town Convention Training Seminar in Ft. Lauderdale. Mr. Schwarz is a member of the Legal Advisory Panel to the Aviation Working Group which is annotating the Cape Town Convention, a new convention on international interests in aircraft and certain other mobile equipment. Mr. Schwarz received his law degrees from the University of Vienna Faculty of Law and from New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in New York and was previously admitted in Austria. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association.
