Elliot Gewirtz, a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP since 1982, chairs the firm’s Global Transportation Finance Department. From June 1978 to June 1984, Mr. Gewirtz practiced at Milbank’s Tokyo office, first as an associate and later as partner-in-charge. Mr. Gewirtz has extensive experience in aircraft securitizations and lease financings including EETC transactions, aircraft portfolio securitizations and cross-border tax leases. Mr. Gewirtz has been named by Airfinance Journal in its 25th Anniversary issue as one of fifty "Airfinance market shapers" worldwide in recognition of his work in the area of aircraft finance over the years. In 2006, Chambers Global named Mr. Gewirtz among the top 20 aviation lawyers in the world, and in 2008 he was in the “Band 1” tier in Chambers USA for aviation finance and equipment finance & leasing. In 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 he was selected to appear in the bi-annual editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Gewirtz also holds a Master’s degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Mr. Gewirtz is a member of the American and New York State Bar Associations as well as the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
