Lesley Benn is a member of the Litigation and International Arbitration Group of Milbank. Ms. Benn focuses her practice in international dispute resolution and complex commercial litigation and has represented clients in U.S. federal and state courts and before arbitral tribunals under the ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, AAA and other rules. She has particular experience in arbitral disputes between investors and states under bilateral investment treaties and other investment instruments, and disputes before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes at the World Bank. Ms. Benn regularly advises clients on investment treaty disputes, the international legal protection available for investment structuring, the enforceability of arbitral awards, and the selection and appointment of arbitrators. Ms. Benn also has handled numerous complex domestic civil litigation matters, including in such sectors as aviation, antitrust, securities, construction, finance, insolvency, oil and gas, and telecommunications, and advises on all stages of the dispute resolution process. A native of Canada, Ms. Benn is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center (J.D.) and McGill University (B.A.). She has been admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Illinois and before various federal district and appellate courts. Ms. Benn has full working knowledge of French.
