Trayton Davis is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and chair of the firm’s Alternative Investments Practice and a former member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Primary Focus & Experience
A partner since joining the firm in 1993, Mr. Davis regularly advises leading players in securitizing both financial and hard assets and in other domestic and international structured transactions. His recent areas of particular focus include: (i) innovative uses of structured finance techniques in alternative energy, traditional energy and commodities trading businesses; (ii) complex investment fund structures; (iii) structured investments by distressed and private equity investors; and (iv) cross border structured investments.
Mr. Davis also has particular expertise in representing investors in distressed transactions involving structured finance and other complex capital structures, including official and ad hoc creditor committees in bankruptcy matters and investors and special servicers in distressed RMBS, CMBS and ABS transactions.

Mr. Davis is listed in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, Chambers USA, Chambers Global and New York Super Lawyers. In addition, he is a member of the Business and International Law Sections of the American Bar Association and the American College of Investment Counsel. He received his B.A. from Haverford College and his J.D. from New York University.
