Tawfiq S. Rangwala is special counsel in the London office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Arbitration Group. Prior to moving to London, Tawfiq practiced in the New York office since 2002.
Primary Focus & Experience
Tawfiq's practice focuses on regulatory and criminal investigations, as well as federal and state court litigation of complex commercial matters involving securities and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and financial restructuring. He has represented institutions and individuals in a wide range of regulatory and criminal investigations and proceedings, including matters involving the origination and securitization of subprime mortgage loans, sales practices for auction-rate securities, insider trading, market timing and late trading of mutual funds, best execution obligations of broker-dealers, directed brokerage and revenue sharing practices of investment advisers, promotion of tax shelters by accounting firms, and kickback schemes in the securities lending industry.
Tawfiq also has experience advising broker-dealers, investment advisers and financial services firms on compliance with the securities laws and the rules and regulations of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and other self-regulatory organizations.

While at Osgoode Hall Law School, Tawfiq served as the managing editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.
