Stuart Harray, a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy since 2007, serves as the head of Milbank’s London Corporate practice.  Prior to joining Milbank Stuart was a corporate partner at a major London-based “Magic Circle” international law firm (where he had various senior level client-facing and firm functions, including as a corporate department Managing Partner and on the Global Corporate Board).

Primary Focus & Experience

Stuart's practice focuses on a broad range of corporate and securities work.  He advises on international and domestic mergers & acquisitions (public and private), private equity, equity capital markets, major projects, restructurings, corporate governance and general corporate law matters.  He has advised on transactions globally, and across a wide range of sectors. 

His more recent transactional representations include advising:

  • a consortium of European financial institutions on the purchase of one of the UK's three major rolling stock lessors
  • a seller of various African mining and upstream oil & gas interests
  • an Asian public telecommunications company on the purchase of a German-based IT company
  • new equity providers in the context of the restructuring and recapitalisation of a European financial institution
  • a LSE-listed energy company in the context of the Indian upstream oil & gas sector
  • an Indian corporation on the acquisition and subsequent re-financing of European hospitality assets, and the acquisition of an interest in a Formula One motor racing team
  • an Asian consortium in the bid for UK offshore renewables assets
  • buyers and sellers of energy, infrastructure and natural resources assets internationally
  • the lenders in the context of several recent UK public-to-private transactions
  • investors in various European distressed situations (public & private)
