Roland Estevez is an associate in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Project Finance Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Estevez’s recent experience includes representation of the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the international lender group for the $547 million financing of the Grupo R La Muralla IV deepwater drilling rig (Gulf of Mexico); representation of the lender group in the refinancing of the Termovalle Power Project in Colombia; the export credit agencies and commercial lender group in the Pueblo Viejo Gold Mining Project in the Dominican Republic; representation of Citibank N.A. in connection with multiple inverted lease financings of residential solar projects located throughout the United States; lenders in the financing for the copper oxides mining project sponsored by Minera El Tesoro; the lender group involved in the successful bid and financing for the $1.1 billion concession for Puerto Rico’s PR-22 and PR-5 toll roads; the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the international lenders in the $700 million Schahin Black Diamond Oil Rig Project in Brazil; the lead arrangers and lender group in the $495 million Bully 2 Oil Rig Project; the international lender group in the $800 million Schahin Black Gold Oil Rig Project in Brazil; Marubeni Corporation in connection with the $3.5 billion Western Energy Development and Anaco Projects in Venezuela; representation of Vale (formerly CVRD) in connection with a $6 billion Vale Export Prepayment Facility; representation of Mitsubishi and Marubeni in the development and financing of the $910 million Petrobras' PDET oil transport project and representation of Citibank in the $250 million loan facility to ISAGEN/Power Finance Trust Limited.  Current representations include a variety of lenders and sponsors in their development and financing efforts in Latin America and the US.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Estevez speaks Spanish fluently. He received a business degree in Economics from the University of South Florida and a law degree from the Hofstra University School of Law where he was a member of the Hofstra Law Review.  He is listed as a leading project finance lawyer in Chambers Latin America (Projects) and Chambers USA (Expert in Projects).
