Robert Moore is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Financial Restructuring Group. Mr. Moore has practiced in bankruptcy and corporate reorganization law for 34 years.
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Moore has led complex, nationally prominent, and at times ground-breaking restructuring engagements for debtors, financial institutions, lender syndicates, creditors committees, chapter 11 trustees, liquidation trusts, and acquirors in virtually every industry segment, as well as complex litigation matters in bankruptcy court, significant cross border and foreign restructurings, Native American restructurings, and the largest municipal restructuring in history.
His diverse representations have included matters such as Grupo Mexico’s acquisition of ASARCO involving the largest environmental claims settlement in history, highly successful representations of Official Creditors Committees for Pacific Gas & Electric Company in the largest public utility case ever filed and County of Orange in the largest Chapter 9 municipal debt adjustment case ever filed, highly successful representations of Debtors such as California's largest wholesale HMO MedPartners Provider Network and Apex Oil Company in the then largest Chapter 11 filing ever for a privately-held business, out-of-court restructurings for entities such as the world's then largest hedge fund operation Long Term Capital Management, acting as bond and hedge fund counsel in cross border restructurings such as the Australian schemes of arrangement for Glencore Nickel and Anaconda Nickel, representation of the Liquidating Trustee for the nation's then largest health care receivables financing enterprise National Century Financial Enterprises, and his current representation of the Chapter 11 Trustee for South Edge involving a 2000 acre, 14,500 residential unit Las Vegas housing development.

Mr. Moore has been designated a “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer and a “Top 100 – California’s Leading Attorneys of 2010” by the California Daily Journal. He is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and has served as Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section and member of the Ninth Circuit Judicial Council Merit Screening Panel for the Appointment of Bankruptcy Judges.
